Patience Character Study

Look up patience in the dictionary

Read the story of Noah in the Bible: Genesis 6:9

Bible Memory Verse: James 5:7

Discussion Questions:

Do you think it took Noah a long time to build the ark? Would this require patience?

How long were Noah and his family on the ark? Did he have patience waiting for God to tell them they could get off the ark?

Do you ever have trouble waiting for things?

Who can you ask to give you the strength to wait patiently?

Activity:

Brainstorm situations that require waiting patiently. For each one, come up with one or two things you could do while waiting. The next time you encounter one of these situations put your ideas in action. For example: while waiting in a doctor's office you could play Eye Spy or bring books to read. While driving in a car, you could sing songs or play a travel scavenger hunt game. Before you go, make a list of things that you might see along the way: types of animals, buildings, and vehicles, and items that are specific to your route such as a picnic table, a fruit stand, a roadblock, a lighthouse, a lake, or a landmark. As you see each item, check it off your list. You may play the game together or competitively.
