This lapbook can be easily be modified to fit students PreK-1st grade.
With a small amount of searching on the websites that I have used for
my activities you could easily make it work for up to 3rd graders including
some math activities.
Lapbook Activities:
Student can color and decorate First-School's
butterfly pattern using markers, crayons, glitter, etc. This butterfly
can be used to decorate the front of the lapbook.
Student can color, cut, glue, and write in First-School's "My
First Letter C Book" (C is for...Caterpillar)

Use the Enchanted
Learning's butterfly life cycle "label me" to learn about
the life cyle.
Then, the student can color and cut-out Enchanted
Learning's butterfly life cycle sequencing cards. These cards can
be mixed up and then have the student put them in the correct order.
Make a pocket for the lapbook to hold the cards.
Learn about and label Enchanted
Learning's parts of the butterfly worksheet. It can also be colored.
Make a coloring book that will fit in the lapbook by shrinking the following
images to 50% and stapling them together.

Amazon.com.
You get to watch the entire butterfly life cycle in real life from caterpillar
to pupa to butterfly! You can set the butterflies free outside or keep
them in the cage.
