Instructions for Folding Lapbooks

Activity 1: Map

Activity 3: Bible
Use Nave's Topical Bible to find and list each mention of the Dead Sea in the Bible into this mini book.

Activity 4: Saltiness
Explain why the Dead Sea is so salty and write the salinity percentages for each body of water inside this tabbed book.

Activity 5: Buoyancy
For this activity, you will need 3 glasses, salt, water, mini carrots and an egg. Label the glasses: Fresh Water, Ocean Water, and Dead Sea Water. Use the following table to mix up water for each glass. We found that 1mL is about equal to 1/8 teaspoon for the salt measuring.

Water
Salt
Fresh Water
300 mL
0 mL
Ocean Water
291 mL
9 mL
Dead Sea
201 mL
99mL

Try placing the egg into each type of water. Do the same with the carrot. Use this index card book to record how much salt and water you used for each glass and to draw your observations.

Activity 6: Info
Use this layered book to record the elevation of the Dead Sea, the different names of the Dead Sea, the minerals that are harvested from the Dead Sea and some of the health benefits of the Dead Sea.

Activity 7: Drying Up
Use this triangle fan fold to explain why the Dead Sea levels are going down.
