Learn about the anatomy of insects. This is a great insect anatomy site!
Learn about the life cycle of insects from the book: What is an Insect.
Read the poems from Joyful Noise together. After reading each poem, use the field guide to find out about the insect in the poem. Fill in insect worksheet. Make an insect book using this insect book cover and the information sheets you make.
After reading the Fireflies poem, catch fireflies!
After reading the Honeybees poem, visit a local bee keeper to learn more about bees. Sample some of their honey.
After reading the Chrysalis Diary poem, read The Life Cycle of a Butterfly.

In the book of Exodus, read about the plagues in Egypt to learn how much damage insects can do.
Write a haiku about insects. A traditional haiku has three lines. The first line has five syllables, the second has seven syllables and the last has five syllables.

Do a scavenger hunt to see how many insects you can find. Be sure to take along a magnifying glass and your field guide so you can examine them closely.
